The coach is a young woman named Maybel. She has long light pink hair in a half-bun style. She is wearing a golden sleeveless dress with a reddish pink heart in the middle that has a reddish pink swirl that is connected from the heart. She also wears golden strapped heels with small bows on them, and her glove is a greenish teal color. She wears a very light pink bracelet on her right wrist. At the beginning of the routine, she gets created by many numbers with the heart glowing and at the end of the routine, she disappears with a buzzing static effect and the phone running out of battery.
Before the song starts, one can see a table with some flyers, a pair of sunglasses with a purple frame, a brown keychain with a smiling basketball player that wears a cap with "JD" on it, and a magazine with Mas Que Nada’s silhouette on the left over a green and yellow background and the lyrics of the song on the right, and a smartphone on the magazine. Before the song starts, the camera zooms into the phone while a ringtone can be heard.
The phone background has a light pink platform which glows yellow at the edges to the beat, the wallpaper has swirls and leaves on it that moves slowly with gradients of reddish pink in the verses, orangish pink on the choruses, and light hot pink during the refrains. White concentric circles pops when the violin is played. The swirls sometimes shines white at some parts of the routine. On the sides, there are golden orange app icons that have lots of different animations throughout the song, the apps also have small portions of white sparkles around it. When the chorus appears, emoticons and symbols can be seen "raining" down; whenever "So call me maybe" is sung, the phone app icon reports a missed call (except for when Gold Move 5 is done). During the bridge, the background darkens and the apps go away quickly, A spotlight illuminating the coach, and pink and yellow numbers at the top of the coach’s head. When the routine ends, the phone runs out of battery, making the background completely black with a red low battery sign, and zooms out.
Call Me Maybe Background - Just Dance 4
Just Dance+[]
In Just Dance+, the background simply begins with a black screen with a green flashing phone. The routine ends with the screen "turning off" and a red battery icon, thus removing the intro and the outro where the camera zooms into the phone.
Gold Moves[]
There are 5 Gold Moves in this routine:
Gold Moves 1 and 2: Quickly raise your right arm straight upwards. Gold Move 3: Quickly put your hands out to your sides. Gold Move 4: With your palms facing away, drag your arms away from your face while walking backwards. Gold Move 5: Quickly bend down, put your left hand on your hip, and your right hand next to your ear as if you were on the phone.
Call Me Maybe appears in Puppet/Party Master Modes. Here are the captions attributed to her dance moves:
Aie Aie Aie
Box Step

Trivia[]
General[]
In the intro and the outro for both routines, a poster showing Mas Que Nada can be seen on the left-hand side of the room.
Additionally, the book on which the phone lies has the lyrics to the song printed on it, starting from the line "Don’t ask me I’ll never tell".
Classic[]
Call Me Maybe and Oops!... I Did It Again are the only two post-Just Dance 3 routines to receive changes in their background in later appearances.
The pictograms have a very thin pink outline between the regular white outline and the yellow part on the inside, making the 3D effect even more visible. This is the only time this has happened in the series.
However, in November 22, 2025, Call Me Maybe was added to Just Dance Now, making this the first legacy song from Just Dance+ to be added in Just Dance Now.
Maybel’s name is a wordplay based on the female given name "Mabel" and the song title.
Maybel was first referred to by this name in the event held on Just Dance’s Twitter account to choose the Just Dance coaches for the new music video for Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels.[3]
On June 15, 2021, she was revealed to be one of the four coaches chosen for the video, along with Panda, Fuchsia Blue, and Harlem.[4]
In Just Dance 4, Maybel is affected by a glitch that makes her occasionally disappear from the screen.[5]
On the Wii version of Just Dance 4, Maybel’s coach selection image is positioned more towards the right side and features a blue outline instead of a fuchsia one.
In a Uplay reward, Maybel can be seen with a turquoise outline instead of a pink one.
In another Uplay reward, she can be seen without her glove.
In the American Dad! episode "Introducing the Naughty Stewardesses", Roger can be seen dancing to Call Me Maybe.[6]
Despite the fact that Maybel makes an appearance in the teaser and trailer for Just Dance Unlimited, Call Me Maybe was never made available for the service.
Maybel returns in Sugar, where her glove color has been changed from aquamarine to blue.
A sticker of the apps from the background can be unlocked on Just Dance 2020 by dancing to Keep in Touch three times.
In Just Dance+, the coach selection image has a more visible glow and has been slightly moved to the left side.
The Just Dance+ map background consists of one part of the phone wallpaper that has been mirrored on the right side.
In the post-Just Dance 4 version of the routine, the coach is not zoomed out along with the background after the first chorus.
The same occurred with the Wii U version of Just Dance 4, albeit only the reflection of the app icons being zoomed out, while it doesn't zoomed out to show the smartphone.
On March 7, 2023, Just Dance’s Twitter account challenged followers to score between 8900 and 9200 points on Call Me Maybe.[7]
When players try to start Call Me Maybe in Just Dance Now, the song is affected by a bug that causes it to not start. Therefore, it was removed hours after its release.
Maybel's avatar in Just Dance Now depicts she has hot pink hair, although she actually has light pink hair in the routine.
This error also happens with the Alternate version’s avatar.
Mashup[]
During Love You Like A Love Song’s part, a mirrored version of this pictogram replaces this pictogram, resulting in one of them not facing to the same side as the coach’s. The same issue occurs when the coach repeats those moves in the opposite order.
Also, the pictogram is colored correctly, unlike in the original routine, where it is miscolored purple.
The Mashup is sometimes affected by a glitch that causes the preview audio to play over the main song.[citation needed]
Puppet Master Mode[]
Call Me Maybe’s Puppet Master Mode is the only one in Just Dance 4 that is unlocked immediately.
The following anomalies can be noticed in the E3 version of the Puppet Master Mode[8]:
