Discoball

Discoball is a recurring non-playable character from Just Dance 2023 Edition, officially debuting in Can’t Stop the Feeling! and serving as a magical companion to the main characters of the "Enter the Danceverses" storyline. They are a sentient ball that is capable creating portals and traveling across dimensions.

Discoball returns in "Dance with the Swan" on Just Dance 2024 Edition, where they are stolen by Night Swan and used for evil.

Biography[]

Sources conflict on the creator of Discoball. A comic posted by the official Just Dance account shows that The Traveler created Discoball when Wanderlust was a child.^[4] However, another post says that Discoball was created by Wanderlust.^[1] Additionally, the opening cutscene of Murder on the Dancefloor, which takes place before Wanderlust’s birth, shows The Traveler passing Discoball to Leda, implying they were created before Wanderlust was born.

Regardless, after creation, Discoball was raised by Wanderlust and continues to accompany him in his adulthood on his journeys throughout the Danceverses.

Discoball is a living disco ball emitting colorful light, being tied with Sara and Wanderlust's colorful surges of energy. Discoball is shown to be very playful and lively, interacting with many of the Danceverses' elements and environment in the backgrounds of various routines, including bopping playfully in one of the stalls and being chased around by a giant cat in an astronaut suit. They have a default face of a smiling V-shaped mouth with closed eyes that has visible eyelashes, but it quickly changes to have both features open to represent discomfort or shock.

They also have the innate ability to create portals towards other portions of the Danceverses, similar to what their creator has. Their power is also expanded where it emits a bright shine that either transforms a certain area into a massive dome made of disco-esque panels or the coaches being transported inside, both of which feature a dance party happening.

At the beginning of the "Dance with the Swan" arc, Discoball is stolen and possessed by Night Swan, which turns them into Dark Discoball. Night Swan then uses them to open portals to kidnap the Just Dancers and enslave them.

Trivia[]

On April 4, 2023, the Just Dance Twitter account posted a thread in which Discoball would get bigger for every 200 likes the Tweet got.^[5]
From October 9-13, 2023, the official Just Dance Twitter account was rebranded to appear as if Night Swan had used Dark Discoball to take it over. The account Tweeted and responded to users in character while teasing the "Dance with the Swan" maps.^[6]^[7]
Discoball can be seen in some of the concept art for Euphoria.^[8]
