Changes: Kids Mode

"Kids Mode" is a mode for Just Dance 2018, Just Dance 2019, and Just Dance 2020. A total of eight special choreographies "developed with the help of kids’ experts to encourage healthy movement" feature in this mode in each game.

The mode itself is exclusive to Wii U, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch^[1], but the songs appear in the tracklist for all 7th-Generation consoles. The songs can also be played through the normal Just Dance mode on Wii U, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia.

Gameplay

Scoring

Instead of using the main game’s scoring system (which uses words like "PERFECT" or "SUPER"), Kids Mode uses words such as "HAHA", "YAY" and "WOW".
"Superstar" (11,000) and "Megastar" (12,000) scoring goals are not used in Kids Mode, instead you get rainbow stars by 11,000 points, in a similiar way to getting "Superstar" in Just Dance Mode.

Trivia

Pictograms are not shown in Kids Mode.
All songs have their backgrounds missing from their menu squares.
- This isn’t the case for Sugar, Mi Mi Mi and Water Me.
All the routines can be accessed and played in Just Dance Mode by searching them with the Search feature.
- In this case, pictograms are displayed and the covers include the background.
Due to a glitch, in previews, the Gold Move sparkles are visible^[3].
When the avatar has not been loaded yet, it is replaced by a grey sleeping face with a thinking cloud that says "ZZZ".
On 7th-Gen consoles, Kids Mode routines appear as part of the main tracklist.
- In Just Dance 2018, latter copies of Just Dance 2019 and Just Dance 2020, they appear after Classic routines; in early copies of Just Dance 2019, instead, they appear in random order.
Like 8th-Gen consoles, the 7th-Gen does score at all like the former for this mode.
In the game files of both Just Dance 2018, 2019 and 2020, there are used squares for routines that were meant to be available in Kids Mode.
- There are also several placeholder squares, which borrow the design from regular placeholder icons and add the word "Kids" in the middle, which is placed diagonally and written in a rainbow font.
The original Kids routines can be played on World Dance Floor.
When a Just Dance Unlimited routine is played but its respective avatar cannot be loaded, Keep on Moving’s avatar is used as a placeholder.
- In their respective scoring screens, instead, Ring My Bell’s avatar is displayed as default.
In Just Dance 2019, the Kids Mode songs have different properties than the main track list:
- Kids Mode songs cannot be opened at the songs tab.
- Kids Mode songs cannot be added to a playlist.
