Mihaly is a character from Just Dance 2023 Edition, debuting in Rather Be and serving as one of the main protagonists of the "Enter the Danceverses" storyline. They are a shaman who is recruited by Wanderlust to help defeat Night Swan.

Biography[]

Mihaly is an artistic and sensitive shaman who grew up on Eternyx, going through a spiritual journey and quest to understand and master the Flow and its energies and techniques through calm and tranquil dancing.[3] Their known utilization of Flow causes light green gem pieces to float and glow around them. They are also under the guidance of the Master Panda, who further coaches and teaches them on the dance style of the Flow until he gives them a mark on their shirt, indicating that they have mastered the Flow.

They quickly join with The Just Dancers as they stumble across to the Temple of the Master Panda. As the party reaches to The Swan Tower, Mihaly participates with Brezziana to free the brainwashed minions in a fight against the Night Swan Army.

Mihaly used to look up to Night Swan, as they were impressed by seeing her dance in the Rose-Tinted Underground of Cygnus, during their childhood.

Trivia[]

  • Mihaly is referred to by "they/them" pronouns in Just Dance’s official Twitter account.[3] Their gender identity was explicitly confirmed to be non-binary in the comments section of an official TikTok.[4]
    • This makes Mihaly the first confirmed non-binary coach in the series.
  • Mihaly’s avatar quote references the song title by saying "Given the chance, I’d rather be mastering new moves".
  • In the Italian version of Just Dance 2023 Edition, Mihaly’s epic avatar is called "Mihaly Armonica";[5] however, this misgenders Mihaly, as the Italian suffix "-a" in the adjective "Armonica" is only used for female nouns.
  • Mihaly’s name derives from the masculine Hungarian name Mihály, which is a Hungarian varient of the biblical name Michael, itself meaning "Who is like God?" in Hebrew.
    • On November 28, 2022, Just Dance’s Twitter account explained that their name is a reference to Hungarian psychologist Mihály Csíkszentmihályi, who discussed the concept of flow[6], which is the basis of "The Flow" concept that was previously mentioned in explanations about the routines of Bad Habits and Daisy as well as Mihaly’s segment for "Coach of the Week".
