It consisted of three dancers - one lead and two backups - that would dance on a stage. There are three spots for players - one for each dancer.[1] Xbox One version of Just Dance 2014 gives two spots for each dancer.[2] The lyrics for each song that had this mode were centered and displayed above the dancers[3] (if playing on the World Dance Floor, they remain at their usual place). On-Stage Mode was planned to be in Just Dance 2015, but was scrapped for unknown reasons.
The On-Stage routines for Just Dance and #thatPOWER are the only ones where all three dancers are of the same gender.
The On-Stage routine for I Kissed A Girl is the only one to be unlocked from the start in Just Dance 2014.
The background for On-Stage routines is reused from concept art for Gordita, a routine made for an unreleased Shakira spin-off that was planned for release in 2012.
The pictograms of the backup dancers are generally the same color. However, if the backup dancers switch positions at any point during the routine, their pictogram colors are slightly different from each other’s.
On the Wii version of Just Dance 2014, the player cannot return to the homescreen on the main menu while playing in On-Stage mode.[citation needed]
Applause (Alternate) shares many features with On-Stage Mode, namely the background and Joan lip-syncing to the song.
As seen on the official Just Dance website, the mode was originally going to return in Just Dance 2015; however, it did not appear in the final cut.
Some of the On-Stage routines made an appearance on Just Dance Unlimited and Just Dance Now, where the mode has been renamed to Sing Along.
Likewise, the On-Stage routines on Just Dance+ are renamed to Stage version.
