"Rather Be" by Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne is featured on Just Dance 2023 Edition, 舞力无限, and Just Dance Now.
On the latter game, the song can be only played by purchasing the Pop Queen song pack.
Appearance of the Dancer[]
The dancer is a shaman named Mihaly, who has long straight hot pink hair, with a visible forehead and flown behind their ears and head. They have thin pink eyebrows, circular sunglasses with light blue translucent lenses and thin bright yellow frame, and thin pink lips. They wear a red shirt, with a blue oversized open hooded jacket with three-quarter sleeves. Their jacket contains stylized waves in shades of blue, and are placed on their sleeves and at the lower end of their jacket. They also wear a pair of black jeans with rips on their thigh and knees, and has cyan foot straps, with the right ankle also wrapped by the straps. Additional details are added to their appearance; which include yellow wired earbuds and pink painted toenails. They wear a purple glove.
During the verses, they gain a bright cyan faded luminous outline, which also has an overlay effect. Their skin is also slightly lighted with cyan colors.
At the end of the routine, Master Panda engraves a circular logo of a panda's paw on their shirt, with the color in a darker shade of red.
Background[]
The routine starts off on a loud crowded street. Silhouettes of pedestrians can be seen passing Mihaly, and the sky is dark. When Mihaly puts on their earbuds, the background fades into a cavern and the noises of the crowd can no longer be heard. Mihaly summons seven teal crystals that float around and light up with the beat of the song. A spiral then appears in the background that transitions it to an island in a river in a canyon. Two waterfalls can be seen behind the coach, and pieces of ancient ruins can be seen in the river and beside the coach.
The green patch the coach is standing on starts to rise out of the ground and begins to float and carry the coach through the environment. The coach then jumps from platform to platform as they get carried through the canyon. The underside of a bridge, part of the ruins, can be seen above them at some points during this.
As the chorus ends, the background fades back into the cavern with the teal crystals. The crystals float and act similar to before. As the song approaches the next chorus, the backgrounds spirals back into the canyon, except the coach is much higher in the air. Dark pink and green vegetation can be seen on the rocks and one waterfall can be seen. As the chorus starts, the coach passes under the bridge again and begins jumping from platform to platform again. The coach continues forward and more of the bridge can be seen, revealing that it leads to the top of the first waterfall.
After the chorus, the background fades back into the cavern, without the crystals, and a panda wearing a teal robe and red pants materializes and dances with the coach. His name is Master Panda. The background then moves back to the canyon, showing both dancers higher in the air on their own platforms. Master Panda and Mihaly both jump from platform to platform and wind up at the top of the canyon. Colored stones arranged in a circular pattern can be seen on the ground and a temple and more waterfalls can be seen in the distance. The camera pans to the right and reveals the Temple of Master Panda, a temple with a large stone statue of Master Panda with water flowing from both of its hands. As the song ends, Master Panda places a pawprint on Mihaly’s shirt and then dissolves. As the routine comes to a close, a portal opens and Sara, Wanderlust, Discoball, and Brezziana step through. Mihaly greets them.

Trivia[]
General[]
- Rather Be is the second song by Clean Bandit in the series.
- It is also the second song by Jess Glynne in the series.
- The codename of the song can be found in the files of Just Dance 2015, suggesting a planned appearance on that game.[5]
Routine[]
- In the intro and ending cutscenes, the coach’s glove is blue instead of purple.
- This also applies to all of their subsequent appearances, where their appearance details are based on the ending of the routine.
- The coach’s glove glitches throughout the routine, causing the shadows to be cyan.
- The routine has been recorded in more than one take, as shown by a glitchy transition that happens during the second part of the first chorus.[6]
- From the final chorus to the end of the routine, the coach is duplicated.
- The Panda, known as the Master Panda, appears in the background during the final chorus.
- The routine has two different versions of the routine prior to the final version:
- Within the files of Just Dance 2023 Edition’s servers is the early version of the routine, which features the following differences:
- The blue colors in the intro sequence are less contrasted.
- Mihaly has a faint greenish teal skin tone that persists throughout the entire routine as well as their glove colored blue.
- The background in the verses is less detailed than the finalized version.
- The valley has different details, such as different plants, missing vines or waterfalls, and differently placed objects.
- An altered version of Master Panda is used, with the aura swirling around him being slightly visible.
- The shadowed effect in the final chorus is missing on both dancers.
- The temple grounds are rougher in detail and some of the background elements are positioned differently.
- An unseen ending is featured in this version, where Mihaly and Master Panda turn around and wave at three placeholder objects far in the background.
- In the first public builds of Just Dance 2023 Edition, the following differences can be found:
- The pedestrian silhouettes in the intro were not overlapped with Mihaly.
- As Mihaly puts on their headphones prior to the transition to the first verse, their skin lacks the faint cyan teal color.
- The faint color palette gradient isn't intense as compared to the final version, with Master Panda remaining unaltered as compared to Mihaly.
- As the background transitions to the final chorus, the aurora in the background has a more luminous and intense magenta color for a brief second.
- This was fixed on November 21, 2022, upon the release of the Day 1 patch.
- Within the files of Just Dance 2023 Edition’s servers is the early version of the routine, which features the following differences:
- Unused files containing an early cover and an unedited coach can be found in Just Dance 2023 Edition’s servers.
- On June 9, 2023, Just Dance uploaded a behind the scenes video for the song. However, the behind the scenes footage used was for Mihaly’s portion of Majesty instead.[7]
