"Sail" by AWOLNATION is featured on Just Dance 2024 Edition.
The song was available on Just Dance+ for free from June 12, 2023, to June 21, 2023.[3]
Appearance of the Dancer[]
The coach is Captain Crimson, P2 of Jump in the Line.
He has long wavy crimson-brown hair and matching facial hair. He sports a black eyepatch over his right eye. He wears a ragged shirt beneath a dark beige long-sleeved garment with V-shaped cleavage, and a teal blue distressed vest marked by gray stains. He also wears a bandolier over his right shoulder and two belts featuring silver buckles wrapped around his waist. Ropes are bound to his forearms. He also wears blue buccaneer pants with dirt marks and dark brown leather boots. His glove is purple, specifically dark moderate magenta.
At the end of the routine, Captain Crimson dons a blue tricorne.
Background[]
The routine takes place on the ship Plum The Conqueror, from Jump in the Line.
The routine begins with a first-person view from Captain Crimson seemingly waking up and looking at his hands. He gets up and the choreography begins. Teal light strobes from above the deck, with rain pouring in.
In the middle of and at the end of the first verse, the ship rocks side to side, causing water to splash up on each side of the room.
At the second verse, Captain Crimson is seen on the main deck of the ship. Every few seconds, lighting flashes and large waves hit against the ship. The ship also rocks side to side just like in the first verse.
Between the second chorus and the bridge, the ship begins catching fire. Once the bridge begins, the coach is completely surrounded by a circle of flames.
After the bridge, Captain Crimson is now standing on small wooden raft heading away from the ship, which is now completely covered in fire. Occasional explosions happen as well. The sky is now completely filled of smoke.
After the song’s outro, the camera pans away from the coach and begins to zoom towards the ship when the routine ends.
Gold Moves[]
There are 2 Gold Moves in this routine:
Gold Move 1: While kneeling on the ground, spread your arms outwards to your sides.
Gold Move 2: Jump up while raising your right hand.

Trivia[]
General[]
- Sail is mentioned in the ESRB rating summary of Just Dance 2024 Edition, which references the lines "Maybe I should kill myself/Blame it on my A.D.D. baby".[4]
Routine[]
- Sail is the second map in the history of Just Dance to have a cutscene in first-person perspective, after Sayonara.
- Sail was the first map to be temporarily released in Just Dance+ to promote the announcement of its game of origin (in this case, Just Dance 2024 Edition).
- It is also the first to be released alongside the initial announcement for its respective game rather than close to its release.
- However, despite it being only available on Just Dance+ at first, Sail could be downloaded along with the other base maps of Just Dance 2023 Edition.[5]
- It is also the first to be released alongside the initial announcement for its respective game rather than close to its release.
- In the opening first-person view, Captain Crimson’s glove is on his right hand; however, after this scene, it is on his left hand, due to the video file of his performance being flipped in post-production, like in every other Just Dance map.
- The map was released in Just Dance+ two hours prior to the Ubisoft Forward announcement rather than after.
- When the map was first released in Just Dance+, it was displayed on the song selection menu under the category "Just Dance #2024".
- When the map was first released in Just Dance+, the aspect ratio of the preview video was too stretched vertically, causing parts of the cover to be visible on each side on the song selection menu.
- On the information screen, the space caused by the wrong aspect ratio remains blank.
- On June 13, 2023, Just Dance’s official Twitter account posted a "Headphones Kid" meme with the kid being replaced by Captain Crimson.
- Sail was originally planned to be available in Just Dance+ until June 20, 2023, but on June 16, Just Dance’s Twitter account announced that its availability would have been extended until the next day due to some players not being able to access online features on Just Dance 2023 Edition on June 13.[3]
- In the teaser, there is a glitch where a water splash from behind the coach appears in front of his legs.
- This error was fixed in the final routine.
- On the YouTube Shorts version of the lore video for Sail, the part that says "travelling through numerous regions of Melosia Realms" has been cut out to fit the time constraints imposed by YouTube for Shorts.
- On Just Dance+ the line "I blame it on my own supply"[6] is misinterpreted as "I blame it on my own sick pride". This was fixed on Just Dance 2024 Edition.
- Additionally, periods were added to "ADD".
