"Tainted Love" by Gloria Jones (covered by The Just Dancers in-game) is featured on Just Dance 2024 Edition.
Appearance of the Dancers[]
The coaches are four members of The Just Dancers, corrupted by Night Swan’s magic and turned into her minions.
P1[]
P1 is Sara, now corrupted into Night Sara. Her appearance remains the same as her appearance in You Should See Me in a Crown.
P2[]
P2 is Wanderlust, now corrupted into Night Wanderlust. His thick hair braid has become a wild mane of dreadlocks, and his crown has been replaced by a diadem resembling Night Swan’s headpiece. He now has a black diamond symbol over his right eye and purple lips.
His short cape has now become a longer and jagged black and blue feathered cape which covers both shoulders, with a gold chain hanging off the right shoulder. His triangular emblem is now worn around his neck. His overshirt has been replaced by a long-sleeved magenta shirt that fades to purple, with his undershirt becoming black, and his belt has become much more elaborate with ornate circular and triangular patterns. His shorts have been replaced with flared pants that fade from indigo to black to purple, and his shoes have been changed to black boots. His yellow glove remains unchanged.
P3[]
P3 is Brezziana, now corrupted into Night Brezziana. Her hair is now darker and tied up in a single bun instead of two, with the rest of her hair flowing loose. She now has black feather designs on her cheeks and dark purple lipstick.
Her sports bra and shorts have been replaced with a one-piece leotard. The top half is orange with a pink broken heart symbol, while the lower half is black with pink detailing. Her jacket has become dark blue sleeves separate from the leotard, with pink feathers around the shoulders. Her socks are now black with a feather design that travels up her legs, and her sports shoes are now dark grey with blue laces and pink trim. While her red glove remains, she also wears a set of black fingerless gloves underneath.
P4[]
P4 is Mihaly, now corrupted into Night Mihaly. They appear to have taken on the combined traits of their original appearance and that of Master Panda. Their hair now has pink bangs with black streaks, and their sunglasses have been tinted yellow instead of blue. They also now wear black eye make-up resembling panda patches and black lipstick.
Their jacket has been replaced by a blue hooded robe with red details and black fluffy ears on the hood resembling Master Panda’s. The robe has upper arm cutouts surrounded by red and white designs, and fades to black around the rims and sleeves. The robe is tied with their yellow earbuds, acting as a belt. Their black jeans have become cropped and even more tattered, and their foot wraps now completely cover their ankles. Their glove remains purple, though it is now fingerless.
Background[]
The routine takes place on the top of Night Swan’s Swan Boat. On each side of the swan boat, Night Swan’s minions play on MIDI keyboards. The minions strike the keys on their keyboards in sync with specific vocal cues within the song. During the latter, the first cue results in pink and orange lighting on the left-side minions, and the second one creates the same effect on the right-side minions. Night Swan herself can be seen from a distance, sitting on her throne and swaying to the music. Dark Discoball can also be seen floating around the coaches throughout the entire song.
The floor the coaches dance on is decorated with elements resembling feathers, Night Swan’s signature symbol. These feathers light up in pink according to the song’s tempo during the verses. The pre-chorus bathes the area in a blue light. During the chorus, Dark Discoball transforms into large glass panels, displaying a larger image of Night Sara lip-syncing the song. The feathers on the floor during this section light up intensely and shift between blue, green, and pink colors, matching the colors of the glass panels. At the beginning of each section of the song (verse, pre-chorus, chorus, etc.), the feathers on the floor initially light up in white.
The bridge of the song changes the color scheme to yellow. The glass panels and the feathers on the floor both radiate yellow and orange hues during this part. The reflection of Night Sara in the panels becomes more intense, with occasional zoom-ins. The reflection also appears to shake intensely as the bridge comes to an end.
The outro of the song features the feathers on the floor lighting up intensely once more, but this time in various shades of pink. During this part of the song, the first occurrence results in pink and orange lighting on the left-side minions, and the the same effect on the right-side minions during the second one. Night Swan becomes giant behind the Just Dancers, smiling and laughing maliciously, as her plan to turn them perfect is accomplished, as she sways in the background to the song.
The song concludes with the Swan Boat setting sail, while the corrupted Just Dancers continue to dance at the front of the boat. Unfortunately, Jack Rose arrives too late and can only watch as the Swan Boat sets sail from afar.
Gold Moves[]
There are 2 Gold Moves in this routine:
Gold Move 1: Crouch and move your arms towards your front.
Gold Move 2: Put your left hand on your hip and move your right arm in a circle. This move is done by Wanderlust first, then Brezziana, then Mihaly, and finally Night Sara.

Trivia[]
General[]
- Tainted Love is the second song by The Just Dancers in the series, and the first one to not be an original composition.
- Unlike their previous song, only one member (Sara) is voiced and none of the original vocalists return.
- The main vocals for this cover were provided by Elisa Zoot, with backing vocals from Brody Dolyniuk and Steve Ouimette.
- As the song has been performed in a different genre and with structural changes from existing versions, Tainted Love marks the first of two covers of licensed songs to significantly differ from their origin, along with Shine a Little Love.
- In the Ubisoft cover of Tainted Love, the chorus is doubled in length in each instance. The genre has also been switched from soul to punk rock.
- Most lyrics that differ between Gloria Jones’s version and Soft Cell’s cover use the latter’s changes, namely "light" instead of "right", "Now I’ll run from you" instead of "Now I run from you", "Take my tears" instead of "Take, not give", "pray" instead of "play", "but I’m sorry" instead of "Well, I’m sorry", "I love you, though you hurt me so" instead of "I know you a-hurt me so", and "Now, I’m gonna" instead of "If I do not".
- However, some lyrics are still based on Gloria Jones’s version, such as "girl" instead of "boy" and "love" instead of "more".
- Instead of the additional lyrics that supplement the final chorus in either version ("Talkin’ ’bout the tainted love" in Jones’ version, "Touch me, baby, tainted love" followed by an octave jump in Soft Cell’s cover), the chorus repeats a third time for the fadeout.
- Rhythmically, the opening stinger followed by the drum fill, the backing vocals on the verses, and the additional vocalizations on the final chorus are a closer match to Jones’s version.
- Soft Cell’s cover of the song is sampled in S.O.S..
Routine[]
- Tainted Love marks the first time Mihaly is not portrayed by Soraya Gacem at any point of the routine.
- Seven, Swan Lake, and Tainted Love were the only three maps from Just Dance 2024 Edition not to be revealed through a preview gameplay.
- During one section, Mihaly’s pictogram changes from an indigo color to a more lilac purple color, before changing back when the next pictograms come. This has since been fixed.
- The map background uses a concept art instead a screenshot of the background. [citation needed]
- Tainted Love is the second known Quartet where the dancers were filmed in sets of two instead of all together, after Let's Party (飞艇派对).[3]
