General

  • The NTSC box art was originally going to be similar to the PAL cover but was changed.
  • The songs in All Stars Mode were originally going to be on-disc, as seen by the inclusion of lyrics from California Gurls and Starships in the original ESRB rating, but in the final version of the game, all songs in this mode except High Hopes are only available via Just Dance Unlimited.

Ports

  • Gamepad and Wiimote icons were found in the files of the Nintendo Switch version, indicating that there were plans for a Wii U version of the game, but those ideas were scrapped for unknown reasons.[1]

Graphics and Interfaces

  • The pictogram bar originally did not have an arrow at the top, as seen in the preview for Lush Life, the Carnival Celebration video, and the Just Dance Now previews for Medicina, Lush Life, Barbie Girl, and Criminal.[2][3]
  • The pictogram bar originally pulsed in instead of out, as seen in the updated Just Dance Now preview for Slumber Party, and the previews for I Am The Best, Fit But You Know It and Le Bal Masqué.[4]
    • The pictograms also faded in, as seen in the previews of I Am The Best, Fit But You Know It, Le Bal Masqué, and all E3 previews except for Bangarang, Rain Over Me, and Sushi.
  • Originally, the pictogram bar did not have a certain color for each routine, and its default color (purple), as seen in all E3 previews (except for High Hopes, Kill This Love, and the US preview for I Like It).
  • In the coach selection menu, the word "CO-OP" in the Co-op Mode option was spelled as "COOP", and the button required to activate it was not displayed.
  • The Gold Move effect from Just Dance 2018 and Just Dance 2019 was originally used.
  • On the coach selection screen, in earlier builds of the game, menu banners were used instead of map backgrounds.
    • Also, in earlier builds of the game, the design of the player spots on the coach selection screen for camera-based consoles was the same as in Just Dance 2019.[5]
  • The transition screen originally consisted of the game logo fading in with a zooming effect.
  • On the tips icon for the Stickers gallery, the coach from Airplanes can be faintly seen in the Just Dance 3 page, hinting that a sticker based off him was meant to be available. In the final gallery, however, he is replaced by I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’.
  • Avatars for, Sucker, 1999 and Crayon (크레용) can be found on the servers of Just Dance Unlimited, which could indicate that the avatars for Just Dance Unlimited songs would return but were scrapped at some point in development.

Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life

  • P1, P3, and Cthylla were planned to have avatars available in-game, but they were removed for unknown reasons.
    • A Beta golden avatar for P2 also exists.

Baby Shark

  • Pinkfong’s avatar was originally going to look more realistic to the costume seen in the routine, but it was changed to make it look more cartoony.

Bad Boy

  • The coaches were originally supposed to only have one color scheme (the second one), as seen in one of the promotional gameplays, and in a teaser released via social media two days before the announcement of Just Dance 2020, where the coaches can be seen fully using their altered color scheme while perfoming moves where their colors constantly switch in the E3 gameplay.[6]
  • "Shook" (from "And I shook it around") was originally not censored in the GameXP and E3 builds.
  • The Gold Move pictogram used the coaches’ altered color schemes rather than their original ones in the E3 build of the game.
  • P2 was planned to have an avatar, but it was removed for unknown reasons.
    • A Beta version of P1’s golden avatar also exists.

Bangarang

  • The coach selection image was different in the E3 version.
  • A pictogram was only used once in the preview gameplay and in the E3 demo of the game.
  • The avatar’s hoodie was originally black and dark grey instead of black with red stripes, and its facial features were white instead of black.
    • A golden version of this Beta avatar had also been made.

Bassa Sababa

  • An early avatar can be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers, with "WIP (Not the final COLORS)" written on it.

Beautiful Freaks

  • A Ubisoft Original titled "Beautiful Freaks" was at one point intended to be featured in the game, replacing Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life. However, the former was ultimately scrapped for unknown reasons.[7]

Boy With Luv

  • Boy With Luv by BTS featuring Halsey was supposed to be featured in the main tracklist, however it was ultimately scrapped for unknown reasons.
    • Leftovers of the song can be found in the files, along with the avatars and the audio for the song.[citation needed]
      • An unused menu icon appears in the Just Dance Unlimited trailer for Just Dance 2020 and Just Dance 2021.
        • The song was ultimately featured in Just Dance 2023 Edition, albeit with a completely different map.
          • The Extreme Version featured on said game would reuse the background and design of P1 from the scrapped routine.[8]

Boys

  • Boys was originally planned to be on Just Dance 2020 instead of Just Dance Unlimited, but it was removed for unknown reasons.
    • A leftover for the name of the alternate ("Voguing Version") can be found in the files.

Con Altura

  • An avatar with a different color scheme can be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers. This avatar is used in the Wii version of the game.

Don’t Call Me Up

Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)

  • All of the coaches originally had different color schemes, as seen in Skibidi’s background.
  • P1, P2 and P4 were planned to have their own avatars, but they were removed for unknown reasons.

Fancy

  • P1 and P2 were planned to have their own avatars, but they were removed for unknown reasons.
    • Beta versions of said avatars can also be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers.

Fit But You Know It

  • A Beta golden avatar can be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers.

Get Busy

  • P1 was planned to have an avatar, but it was removed for unknown reasons.
  • A golden avatar for P2 can be found in the game files, but it is unused.

God Is a Woman

  • A Beta golden avatar can be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers.

God Is a Woman (Goddess Version)

  • The avatar originally had white facial features and darker skin.

Hey Mama

  • Hey Mama was supposed to be featured in All Stars Mode as the Just Dance 2016 representative, but was replaced with Chiwawa for unknown reasons.

High Hopes

  • As seen in the GameXP build, the menu colors were originally in default colors and the half coaches were unfinished.
    • Besides, the background had different details and originally did not have coaches from previous games (except for the panda).
  • The pictogram bar and lyrics were supposed to have brownish orange color, as seen in both preview videos.
  • P2, P3 and P4 were planned to have avatars, but they were removed for unknown reaons.
    • A Beta golden avatar for P1 also exists.

I Am the Best

  • P1 and P3s’ shields were originally going to be purple instead of gold, as seen in Skibidi’s background.
    • However the background coaches have a purple shield during the bridge.

I Don’t Care

  • An early avatar can be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers, with "WIP (Not the final COLORS)" written on it.

I Like It

  • A non-gold version of P1’s avatar can be found in the files.

Infernal Galop (Can-Can)

  • C1, C3, C4, and C5 were intended to have avatars, which were removed for unknown reasons.

Just An Illusion

  • P1 was intended to have an avatar, but it was removed for unknown reasons.

Keep in Touch

  • In the second tutorial screen for the 8th-Gen version, the pictograms are green with purple props instead of purple with aqua props, and the bar is purple instead of indigo.
  • In the promotional image from the Just Dance 2020, The coach can be seen with a different glove color, being blue instead of lime green.
  • In the Just Dance 2021 tutorial screen showing Without Me (Extreme Version) with the pictograms of the routine, the pictograms were supposed to be pink with orange props.
  • A Beta golden avatar can be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers.

Kill This Love

  • As seen in the Just Dance 2020 Songlist Part 1 video, the background was less detailed and the coaches had teal outlines instead of yellow outlines. The coaches’ outlines were also thinner.
    • This Beta version was also used in the GameXP beta build.
      • In the Gamescom version, more effects have been added to the background.[10][11]
  • The pictogram for the first Gold Move originally had the default pictogram colors in the faded right arm, but this error was fixed in the final game to give them the actual pictogram colors.
  • “Making love” was originally not censored, as heard in the GameXP beta build.
    • "Eoreo jugeul" was not censored in the GameXP and E3 build, either.
  • As seen in the GameXP beta build, the menu colors were originally in default colors and the coach selection images were unfinished.
    • Also, the half coaches were different from the ones from the final build.
  • In both preview gameplays and in the E3 version[12], this move was only counted once. In the final game, it is counted three times on remote consoles.
  • P1, P2 and P4 were planned to have usable avatars, but they were removed for unknown reasons.

Kill This Love (Extreme Version)

  • An early avatar can be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers, with "WIP (Not the final COLORS)" written on it.
    • Two Beta golden versions of this avatar can also be found.

La Respuesta

  • La Respuesta by Becky G and Maluma was originally supposed to be featured in the game, however it was scrapped and was later added on Just Dance Unlimited as part of Season 3: Virtual Paradise instead.
    • Unused avatars can be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers.

Le Bal Masqué

  • When the preview gameplay was initially uploaded to Just Dance’s official YouTube channels, the original version of the song was played instead of the cover, the Gold Move effect was from Just Dance 2019 and the Beta pictogram bar was used.
    • On November 7, 2019, a new version of the preview replacing all these Beta elements with their final counterparts was uploaded to the European channels.
  • P1 was planned to have an avatar, but it was removed for unknown reasons.
    • A Beta golden avatar for P2 can also be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers.

Ma Itù

  • In the Creative Spotlight video for the music video of Ma Itū, a clip of an early version of the routine, which has a brighter background than the finalized one, is played.

My New Swag (我的新衣)

  • As seen in a promotional image for 舞力全开, the coach's fengguan was supposed to be a lighter color than in the final version.

Old Town Road (Remix)

  • The pictograms have default colors in promotional images.

Old Town Road (Remix) (Line Dance Version)

  • Unused avatars for P1 and P2 can be found in the game files.
  • According to Jéssika Jessy (the performer of P2), P2’s costume was slightly different during production.[13]
    • Besides, four different choreographies were created for the map.[13]

Policeman

  • Both preview gameplays and the GameXP beta build use the radio edit of the song instead of the version in the music video, which is the one in the E3 demo.
  • In the Just Dance 2020 fankit and Just Dance Now, the background features an unseen cutscene, where the reindeer from Make It Jingle twerks for a few seconds.
  • In the GameXP gameplay, the pictogram bar was red.
  • Nothing was originally censored in the GameXP and E3 builds.
  • A Beta golden avatar for P1 can be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers.

Rain Over Me

  • Nothing was originally censored, as heard in the GameXP Beta build.

Skibidi

  • Unedited menu assets can be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers.
  • Freeze Please (P1), Jungle Dances, Kitchen Kittens, Magical Morning, and My Friend The Dragon (P2) were planned to appear in the background as indicated by their appearances in early menu assets.
  • In the E3 Reveal video, P1 was seen with a darker color scheme.
  • An unused avatar for P2 can be found in the game files.
  • The E3 background had different coaches than the one in the final game, this new background was made and used since Gamescom[14]
  • Skibidi’s preview uses default-colored pictograms.
  • As seen in an E3 build of Just Dance 2020, the lyrics color and pictogram bar color were originally yellow.

  • An early avatar can be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers, with "WIP (Not the final COLORS)" written on it.

Soy Yo

  • According to concept artwork published by a Ubisoft worker, Niki’s design was slightly different: her hair was black instead of lilac, and she wore a cobalt blue skirt instead of a black denim skirt.[15]

  • An unused avatar for P2 can be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers.

Stop Movin’

  • P1 and P3 were planned to have an avatar but they were removed for unknown reasons.

Sucker

  • Sucker by Jonas Brothers was originally supposed to be featured in the game, however it was scrapped and was later added on Just Dance Unlimited as part of Season 1: Winter Wonderland instead.

Sushi

  • A Beta golden avatar can be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers.

Taki Taki

  • The coach has a Beta color scheme featured in Skibidi’s background.
    • This was only in the E3 build, since in the Gamescom build, it was changed to the color scheme seen in the beginning of the routine.

Taki Taki (Caveman Version)

  • P1 was planned to have an avatar but it was removed for unknown reasons.

Talk

  • An early avatar can be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers, with "WIP (Not the final COLORS)" written on it.
    • A golden version of this Beta avatar can also be found.

Tel Aviv

  • P1 was planned to have an avatar but it was removed for unknown reasons.

The Time (Dirty Bit)

  • The coaches were originally going to have only one color scheme. P1 doing a move with a different color scheme can be found in the E3 trailer.
  • P3 was planned to have an avatar but it was removed for unknown reasons.

The Time (Dirty Bit) (Extreme Version)

  • Two beta golden avatars can be found in the Just Dance Unlimited servers.

Ugly Beauty (​怪美的​)

  • P2 and P3 were planned to have avatars but they were removed for unknown reasons.
    • Avatars with a different color scheme, along with P1, can be found in the game files, suggesting that the coaches originally were going to have a different color scheme, oddly these color scheme were based on their behind the scenes colors.

Vodovorot

  • The turquoise lines in the first background were red in the E3 version.
  • In the background seen in the fankit, the trailer, and at E3, the background flashes red and blue while zooming into the coach instead of staying red.[16]
