Gameplay[]

  • Based off an early screenshot and early trailers, Battle Mode originally had Gold Moves. It is unknown why they were removed from the final game.
  • The Battle Mode’s Beta design had no graph of life, time, rounds, or rates.
    • The player’s victory was based on how many points they scored.
  • In the Beta version of the game, there were no star bars in Puppet Master Mode, as seen in a gameplay.
  • Puppet Master Modes initially had Gold Moves, but they were removed from the final version. The Gold Move effect, however, was not displayed.
  • In Puppet Master Modes, when the "Strike The Pose" option was selected on the gamepad, moves for the current routine were still counted.[1]
  • Medleys were supposed to return, as proven in the game files.[2]

Interface[]

  • The early version of the game used Gold Move effect from Just Dance 3 and Just Dance Wii 2, as well as its sound.
    • The early version of the game also used the same menu music.[3]
  • The menu had a different score (in blue), but it was changed for unknown reasons.
  • The word "Difficulty" was displayed below the artist’s name, and when the cursor was moved over the album coach, it would slide above the difficulty markers.[4]
    • Besides, when moving the cursor on the album coach, it would zoom in along with the album background, and a semitransparent play button was displayed on it.
  • The Mojo icon in the menu looked different in the early versions of the game.

    • "Select your dancer" was displayed on the top instead of the song title and the artist’s name.
    • Two intersecting triangles with lines were shown behind the coach.
    • The button to activate the routine was longer and narrower, and it had bright scrolling semicircles at the end.
    • The sound effects played when each player was ready decreased in tonality instead of increasing.
  • The transition from the coach selection screen to the routine simply consisted of the game logo being zoomed in and fading away.
  • The pictogram bar was originally going to have a triangle at the end that would flash to the beat. However, in the final version of the game, this was changed to a rectangular spotlight. The spotlight fully covers a pictogram when it zooms in and fades away.
  • In an early picture of the song selection menu, the Never Gonna Give You Up vs Moves Like Jagger battle is shown on the right of the Classic Never Gonna Give You Up routine.
    • Additionally, Disturbia, in this picture, was on the right of Never Gonna Give You Up vs Moves Like Jagger.
  • The score text ("PERFECT", "GOOD", etc.) was larger than the version in the official game and the animation lasted longer.
  • The crown looked different than the final release.
  • The stars had a different design, as they were a bit yellower than the final design.
    • Another design depicts them in a whiter color and with overlap.
  • On the Xbox 360 version, the players’ silhouettes on the left of the feedback icons glowed and lacked the rectangular frame seen in the final version.
  • In Just Sweat, the clock that counts down the minutes and seconds was up and not down.
  • In the Beta version, players could change their avatars while the routine was loading.
  • The following graphical differences can be seen between the early version of Puppet Master Mode and the final one.[5]
    • Coaches were not reflected in the background.
    • Pictograms for pre-Just Dance 4 routines were smaller than those for Just Dance 4 routines.[6]
    • The background on the Wii U gamepad had rainbow wavy lines instead of bubbles.[6]
    • The element that warned players about the next move consisted of a fuchsia rectangle with a curve on the left side, where "Next move" appeared while zooming in before displaying the caption. "Next Move" and the caption appeared alternatively (first the former, then the latter, then the former again and so on).
      • In some early versions, the rectangle simply read "Next Move: (Caption Name)" with no animations.[6]
    • Coaches appeared with a simpler animation, which simply consisted of some sparkles and bubbles, after being selected on the gamepad.
    • When no captions were selected more than once, the animation used for selected coaches was applied to the original one.
    • "Strike The Pose" coaches appeared in front of a black rectangle with a white outline, round corners, a pulsing star, and a golden glow, while "STRIKE THE POSE" was shown on the bottom left on a yellow star with ten points. No additional sound effects played to cover the music up, and the screen did not darken.
    • When a pose from "Strike The Pose" was performed correctly, the triggered animation was in shades of yellow and red "BEST POSE (player’s name)" instead of "GREAT POSE (player’s name)".
  • In the Beta version, the voice saying "Dance!" after starting the game was different.
  • The cursor from Just Dance 3 was going to be used.
  • The rectangular item that shows the next move in Puppet Masters is different.
  • In the trailer for Puppet Master Modes, the next move in line had a purple outline.
  • Lyrics were not highlighted in early versions.
  • In the Just Dance 4 E3 Video introducing the Puppet Master Mode feature, We No Speak Americano had red pictograms despite the dancer’s outfit being magenta.
  • The result screen in Just Sweat was supposed to be in a brighter color scheme.

Songs and Dancers[]

(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life[]

  • (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life has two Beta pictograms that are blue and yellow instead of yellow and red.
  • There is also an unused Gold Move pictogram and two unused pictograms.

Ain’t No Other Man[]

  • Ain’t No Other Man was likely supposed to be available on all consoles, due to files of the song being found in the Wii archives.[7]
    • The Mashup is in the PS3 and Wii archives as well.
  • On the cover of some NTSC copies, the coach has a golden hat instead of a navy one.
  • There is an unused pictogram in the Just Dance Now files.
  • A different menu icon can be seen in a picture of the Wheel of Gifts in the Xbox 360 instruction booklet.

Aserejé (The Ketchup Song)[]

  • In the Friends icon of the JDTV menu, the coaches have black hair and differently colored gloves: P1’s is yellow instead of lime green, and P2’s is purple instead of lilac.

Baby Girl[]

  • The Just Dance 4 remake of Baby Girl has two beta pictograms, as well as two different representations of the Gold Moves.

Beauty And A Beat[]

  • Beauty And A Beat was going to have a red glove but was changed to yellow in the final version of the game.
  • Gold Moves 1 and 2 were originally not meant to be counted as Gold Moves, as proven by a Beta pictogram in the Just Dance Now files.

Beauty And A Beat VS. Call Me Maybe[]

  • In the game files, there are early versions of the battle icons, where the coach selection images have been cropped and Call Me Maybe’s has been mirrored.
    • In addition, the coaches’ heads are not aligned correctly, and the background can be seen.

Beware of the Boys (Mundian To Bach Ke)[]

  • The coaches for Beware of the Boys (Mundian To Bach Ke) originally had a light blue outline instead of a green one, and their gloves had slightly lighter colors. Additionally, the graffiti in the background was more zoomed in and had some differences in the design.
  • A Beta pictogram can be found in the Just Dance Now files.

Brand New Start[]

  • Brand New Start was found in the files of the Wii U version of the game.[8]

Call Me Maybe[]

  • Call Me Maybe has a Beta pictogram.
  • In a Uplay image, Maybel has a turquoise outline instead of a pink one.

Call Me Maybe (Alternate)[]

  • The Alternate has a removed Party Master Mode caption, which was undernamed "Kick ass".

Can’t Take My Eyes Off You[]

  • In the menu assets, the coaches have a fire red outline instead of a blue one, and P1’s glove is green instead of cyan.

Cercavo Amore[]

  • As seen in a Behind-the-scenes image and a promotional picture, the coach originally had a longer glove.
  • In a flashmob made by Radio Italia, a beta version of the routine is used, where the coach’s glove is blue instead of magenta and the spectators’ area spins faster during the second and final choruses.

Crazy Little Thing[]

  • Crazy Little Thing originally had a red glove, as seen in the gameplay footage. Also, her dress was more pink than red.

Crucified[]

  • Crucified has a Beta pictogram.

Die Young[]

  • Die Young has a Beta pictogram seen in a promotional Just Dance 2014 gameplay picture. It shows Gold Moves 1 and 2 without the gold outline.

Diggin’ in the Dirt[]

  • Diggin’ in the Dirt has 12 Beta pictograms. Some of them appear in the Mashup of We No Speak Americano.

Disturbia[]

  • The coach’s haircut on the cover of the PAL version is completely pink, while the actual hair is navy blue and pink.
    • Also in the cover, the face has a lightning bolt painted on her eye rather than a triangle.
  • A different menu icon can be seen in a picture of the Wheel of Gift in the instruction booklet. The coach has her arms a little bit separated than the actual menu icon.
  • The coach is seen performing different dance moves in a showreel, as seen here. It is unknown why the routine was changed.
    • She also has a dark ghost shadow effect on her, which is the same effect as the one seen in the first game.
  • The routine has two Beta pictograms.
  • In the E3 build of the game, the Puppet Master Mode caption "Hands Up" was called "Deliverance".[9]

Domino[]

  • Domino has a Beta color scheme and background that can be found in unused menu assets.

Everybody Needs Somebody To Love[]

  • Six unused pictograms can be found in the Just Dance Now files.

Gangnam Style[]

  • Gangnam Style has two unused Gold Moves.
  • The routine also has 19 Beta pictograms that can be found in the Just Dance Now files.

Good Feeling[]

  • In the E3 build of Just Dance 4, the song title was displayed as Good Feeling (Alice Version).
  • Several different color schemes could be seen in pre-release material.
    • In the Just Dance 4 launch trailer, his jacket had yellow sleeves instead of green sleeves, his T-shirt was magenta instead of purple and his jeans were blue instead of black.
      • His jeans remained blue in the main Wii U menu of Just Dance 4.
    • In both previews, the Classic coach is in his C3 form in spite of him performing moves from the second chorus and the first verse.
    • In a promotional picture, the purple parts of his outfit were more magenta than purple, his outline was magenta instead of blue and the rest of the outfit was less saturated.
  • A Beta Picture of Good Feeling shows a pictogram for C1 that is dark blue with magenta arrows instead of magenta with yellow arrows.[citation needed]
  • Some Beta pictograms can be found in the Just Dance Now files.

Good Girl[]

  • Good Girl has a Beta pictogram that can be found in the Just Dance Now files.

Heavy Cross[]

  • Heavy Cross has 10 Beta pictograms. Strangely, they are red instead of indigo.

Hit ’Em Up Style (Oops!)[]

  • As seen in a promotional picture for Just Dance Now, Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!) originally had a different square; the background seen in it was colored blue instead of yellow.
  • As seen in the Wheel Of Gifts manual, the menu square had the coach in a different pose.
  • During production, the routine had a different background, which resembled the inside of a limousine. It was later replaced because the producers preferred something simpler.[10][11]

Invincible[]

  • According to Anja, her song Invincible was considered to be featured on the game, but did not appear in the final game.[12]

Istanbul (Not Constantinople)[]

  • Istanbul (Not Constantinople) was planned to have a Mashup, which appears within the game files, but not in the final game. The reasons why this Mashup was scrapped are unknown.
  • Two unused pictograms can be found in the Just Dance Now files.

Jailhouse Rock[]

  • In the Just Dance Now pictograms sprite, there is a Beta pictogram that has different colors from the final ones.

Let Me Feel Ya[]

  • Let Me Feel Ya by Anja was meant to be featured in the game, but it was later replaced by Brand New Start.

  • Move Your Body by Beyoncé was planned to be featured in the game, but it was ultimately removed for unknown reasons.

Moves Like Jagger[]

  • Some pictograms with the color scheme of C3 have been found in Just Dance Now files.
  • In a showreel, there is a Beta version of the routine where the title appears in several colors whenever it is sung.

Oh No![]

  • An early version of the routine, which only has an indigo canvas with a blue gradient in the middle as the background, was shown in a showreel.
  • As seen in promotional material, the background originally included display stands for heels and purses, hanging pants, paper balls, and string lights, and the mannequin backup dancers were absent.
    • The beta background is still visible in the intro of the Just Dance 4 version on the left corner.
  • 11 beta pictograms are used in the Puppet Master Mode of Oh No! itself.

On the Floor[]

  • In a promotional image, On the Floor has a red pictogram instead of a black one.

One Thing[]

  • In the Just Dance Now files, there are 20 Beta pictograms, most of which are copies of the final ones in different colors (mostly red and sky blue). Among them are two differently colored versions of the Gold Move pictogram.

Oops!...I Did It Again[]

  • In the song’s Puppet Master Mode, Yellow Phantom makes an appearance as a "Strike The Pose!" picture, but her color scheme is a bit different: her hair and shoes are brown instead of purple, and her glove is magenta instead of yellow-orange.

Part of Me[]

  • Files for Part of Me can be found in the files of the game, proving that the song was planned to be part of the main tracklist rather than a downloadable track.[14]

The Final Countdown[]

  • In the preview gameplay, the pictograms were red and blue instead of fuchsia and brown.

  • As seen in a promotional screenshot, the background was somewhat simpler than the final version: the scenery was zoomed in, the light chunks were bigger, emanated light rays, the spotlights and the flame effect were faded, and the blue smoke was absent.

Weapon of Choice[]

  • Weapon of Choice by Fatboy Slim was planned to be featured in the game, but the song was ultimately scrapped for unknown reasons.[18][19]
  • The PlayStation 3 instruction booklet features a picture of the Wheel of Gifts, which features a square for this routine. The coaches on the square are two dancers, one of which is wearing a cowgirl outfit and has braided hair, while the other is wearing a Native American-inspired outfit, and has curly black hair.

What Makes You Beautiful[]

  • Noah’s bow tie and glove are green instead of red on the Wii U version of the "Just Dance!" screen.

You Make Me Feel...[]

  • In the US preview gameplay, the pictograms are blue with yellow arrows instead of yellow with light blue arrows.
  • Files for both the Chester Cheetah version of the routine and the regular one can be found in the Wii U data, proving that the promotion was originally planned to be available for Wii, Xbox 360 and Wii U.[20]

You're the First, the Last, My Everything[]

  • As shown in the menu icon, the gloves were differently colored: P1 and P2’s gloves were both yellow, P3’s was orange and P4’s was purple.
  • In the Just Dance Now files, there is a Beta pictogram, which is grey for P3 (instead of purple).
  • A different menu icon can be seen in a picture of the Wheel of Gift in the instruction booklet.

Avatars[]

  • In early versions of the game, avatars simply consisted of a rectangular picture showing the coach’s face.
  • In the "Wheel of Gifts" section of the manual, an unknown avatar can be seen behind the menu icon of the Extreme version of Wild Wild West. It resembles an astronaut.
    • Unusually, it has no face and a fully visible body. In the final game, avatars only feature dancer's heads.

Unknown Dancers[]

  • In the Community icon of the JDTV menu, an unknown dancer can be seen to the right of We No Speak Americano. Not much is known about her, aside from the fact she has curly blonde hair with a hairclip. She is the only coach in the square whose background can’t be seen.
