Just Dance VR is an upcoming VR game that is set to be released at an unknown date.[1] Initially announced as a Pico 4 exclusive co-developed by Pico to be released in 2023, the game has since been delayed and is proceeding with a different company.
The VR game was first announced in September 2022, where it was supposed to be released in 2023 as a collaboration with Pico as an exclusive for the Pico 4 headset.[1] However, throughout 2023, Just Dance VR’s status became uncertain following layoffs at ByteDance, Pico’s parent company, and poor sales performance of the Pico 4 headset.[2][3] In November 2023, it was revealed to VR gaming news site UploadVR via email that Ubisoft is "working with a new partner for Just Dance VR", with further details such as release dates to be revealed at a later time.[4]
Trivia[]
If released, Just Dance VR will be the second attempt at a VR port after an early prototype for a VR version of Just Dance 2017 was shown at E3 2016.[5]
This prototype was played by Australian Just Dance YouTuber Jayden Rodriguez, but it was never released, and no further developments were made until the announcement of the Pico port.
On the official website for the Pico VR system, the file name of the promotional image for Just Dance 2023 Edition is misspelled as "jest-dance.png".[6]
