Background[]

Main article: Season 4: The Traveler

The Traveler was first teased in the trailers for the Just Dance Unlimited seasons for Just Dance 2021 as a mysterious, shadowy figure in the background. The first one of these appearances was in the background of Season 1: Once Upon A Dance, where he is standing in the castle with the coaches from the season. He is then seen in the trailer for Season 2: Versus, where his hand is visible pushing a button on a boombox. He then appears on a parade float in the trailer for Season 3: Festival! in front of a portal. This all led up to Season 4: The Traveler, where he was officially revealed. Si’Ha Nova, who would later become his partner, was teased at the end of this trailer and both coaches’ routines were featured in the season to tease Just Dance 2022.

Biography[]

The Traveler is a being who travels across the Danceverses through portals that he can create. He spends Just Dance 2022 exploring the Danceverses, trying to reunite with Si’Ha Nova.[1] He is first seen in Rock Your Body, where his abilities are shown as he teleports around the Spacetime Hotel. At the end of the routine, he can be seen duplicating himself as these versions walk into portals leading to China, Think About Things, Mr. Blue Sky, and Levitating; although, he does not actually appear in those routines, he can be briefly seen wandering in the crowd in Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).

He eventually reunites with Si’Ha Nova in Save Your Tears (Remix), but the two go their separate ways at the end of the routine. However, the portals they go through lead to each other’s Danceverses instead of their own and it is unclear why this happens. Despite this, subsequent lore posted on social media shows that they eventually reunite again and have a child, Wanderlust. These also show the early days of the family including Si’Ha Nova’s pregnancy,[2] The Traveler creating Discoball for a young Wanderlust,[3] and a young Wanderlust making a macaroni necklace for Si’Ha Nova.[4] It is currently unclear what happens after Wanderlust grows up as neither the Traveler nor Si’Ha Nova appear in the Enter the Danceverses and Dance with the Swan storylines. The only thing that has been revealed is that they are doing well and proud of how Wanderlust handled the Night Swan situation in Enter the Danceverses.[5]

In the prequel map Murder on the Dancefloor, a different side of the Traveler can be seen. Set a while before the events of Just Dance 2022, he is revealed to be the one who brings Leda Nox, who would later become the villain Night Swan, to the Danceverses using Discoball. Throughout the map, the Traveler can be seen showing Leda how to make portals and at the end he opens a portal to send her back to Earth, but she declines and decides to go with him instead. The two are heavily implied to be in a relationship at the time.[6][7][8] It is currently unclear when or why they broke up.

Trivia[]

  • The lore conflicts multiple times regarding the creation of Discoball. A comic shows the Traveler creating the Discoball for Wanderlust during his childhood[3], but another tweet says Wanderlust created Discoball.[9]
    • Both of these conflict with Murder on the Dancefloor, which shows the Traveler using Discoball before Wanderlust was born.
  • The Traveler is erroneously depicted with blue skin in the comic strip about the creation of Discoball.[3]
  • Wanderlust wears the Traveler’s cloak at the beginning of Canned Heat.
  • Wanderlust is described as the Danceverses Prince, which would imply the Traveler is the Danceverses King.
