Under the Sea

"Under the Sea" by Samuel E. Wright (covered by Roderick Sanford and credited as Disney’s The Little Mermaid in-game) is featured on Just Dance 2016, Just Dance Now, Just Dance Unlimited, 舞力无限, and Just Dance+. It is also available in Kids Mode through Just Dance 2018 and Just Dance 2019 via Just Dance Unlimited.

Appearance of the Dancer[]

The dancer is Ariel, the main protagonist of the film, The Little Mermaid. Her hair is red and is long and curly, and has natural colored skin on the body, while her arms and face are in a lighter shade nearing white. She wears a blue-purple seashell bra, and a Sea green mermaid tail with a darker shade on the texture and the fins of the tail. Her glove is electric violet, and her faded outline is cyan.

Background[]

Ariel is on the ocean floor, sitting on a rock. There are many fish swimming, a few plants, and Sebastian is seen singing the song.

  • Under the Sea is the fifth Disney song in the main series.
    • The song is not credited as a cover.
  • The lyric "Life is the bubbles" is misinterpreted as "Life is bubbles".
  • On the promotional images for the playlists of Dance-A-Thon, the second pair of quotation marks is absent from Disney’s "The Little Mermaid".[2]

Routine[]

  • Under the Sea is the first seated routine which serves as a Classic routine.
  • Under the Sea is the second routine to feature a mermaid as a playable dancer, following Somethin’ Stupid.
    • However, in this routine, the tail looks real, whereas in Somethin’ Stupid, it was just a skirt resembling a mermaid’s tail.
      • Nevertheless, the performer’s feet are still visible, especially on the menu assets.
  • Ariel's bodysuit was not properly blended with her skin, leading to the visible outline of a collar and sleeves.
    • This was fixed in post-Just Dance 2016 menu assets, but remains visible during the routine.
  • A full official gameplay of Under the Sea was uploaded to Just Dance’s official YouTube channel on August 3, 2020, along with those of How Far I’ll Go, Into The Unknown, Junto a Ti, Let It Go, and Un Poco Loco. Among these gameplays, Under the Sea is the only one with "©Disney" displayed on the bottom right corner.
  • All of the pictograms have a mermaid’s tail.
  • In the preview, there is an incorrect pictogram.[3]
