HoWaffles: Hi everyone! It’s HoWaffles!

Via: And Via!

HoWaffles: And you’re watching this week’s episode of Beat Yo Face: Fashion… Photo… RUVIEW!

Via: Today we will be Toot-ing and Boot-ing the looks from the first episode of Beat Yo Face: All Stars! Category is… Star-Spangled!

HoWaffles: The queens were asked to bring out their very best star-drenched looks! And some of them really stepped out of the box.

First up, AmyNo iSaid!

AmyNo iSaid BYFAS S01E01 Runway 1 AmyNo iSaid BYFAS S01E01 Runway 2

HoWaffles: First off, I love the direction she went with on this look. It’s a straightforward yet clever interpretation of star-studded. I mean, she’s literally star-studded! The coat before the reveal is beautiful and chic and I love the oversized sleeves and the fur neck-piece. The ruffles at the bottom of the coat also add that umph to it and makes it ever-more chic. I feel like the reveal kind of washes out all those beautiful details that were in the original outfit, but it’s great none-the-less. My favorite part of the second outfit is the puffy sleeves and I love how she paid homage to her Season 1 looks on it. One critique though, I feel like the boots she wore after the reveal were a bit of an oversight and I loved the boots she was wearing with the coat much more.

Via: The coat is magnificently detailed. I love the beautiful, dreamlike embossings of the sun and moon and the gold fringe, paired with the boots, is a really nice touch. I’m not the biggest fan of the collar on the ruvealed look, but I really like the sort of British schoolboy teas it’s giving me with the shorts, belt and puffy-sleeved shirt. And those gold earrings are simply stunning. If there’s anything I think this look could go without, it’s that headpiece. It reminds me of one of those baby mobile things? So, what do you give this look, HoWaffles?

HoWaffles: I give it a Toot!

Via: Toot!

Next up, DonutLikeMe!

DonutLikeMe BYFAS S01E01 Runway

HoWaffles: The first thing I noticed when I saw this outfit were all the amazing details in it! The undergarment she wore that was filled with stars is my favorite part. Additionally, what is so nice about it is that those stars in her undergarment seem to “spew” out when they reach her head as evident with that headpiece. The embroidery on the outfit also made me feel content with Donut’s level of taste. Finally, that wig is teased to HELL and back! Absolutely wonderful. One thing though is that I wish the length of the dress was a little shorter because it looks like there is just excess fabric hitting the floor at the end of it.

Via: Let me start off by saying that I love the wig color and how it contrasts with the black and grey on the rest of the look. The gown is just superb, with the fishnet-y details in the middle and lace on the sides, and I also love how subtle the stars that show up further down are. Normally I'd say this headpiece is a little too busy but she somehow made it work so well with this look. It’s really one of my faves tonight!

HoWaffles: It’s a Toot!

Via: I give it a Toot!

Up next, Gingica!

Gingica BYFAS S01E01 Runway

HoWaffles: This outfit has the level of class, beauty, and polish I expect from Gingica. It’s beautiful and flows wonderfully. However, I feel like it’s a more basic interpretation of “stars”. This silhouette has already been done on this runway albeit in a better way with OzQueen. However though, it definitely answers the runway theme as it truly is FILLED with stars! My favorite part of the outfit is what I already said on the show, that face accessory! It just adds that extra level of edginess that I absolutely love. However, I feel like the wig she wore is from a completely different era and doesn’t seem to accentuate or add anything to the outfit.

Via: I feel like this look has three parts that are all at odds with each other. The hairstyle is nice and dramatic and the face accessory is very Metropolis and Art Deco, but then the top of the gown is just... plain and then it suddenly EXPLODES into stars when we get to the skirt. It's not very cohesive nor a unique interpretation of the star theme, though I will say I love how luminescent the stars are. She could’ve done a bit better, I think.

HoWaffles: Besides all the hassles, it’s a Toot!

Via: It’s a soft Toot.

Up next, Hannah!

Hannah BYFAS S01E01 Runway

HoWaffles: It’s amazing to see the glow up Hannah has received ever since competing on Season 3! This look is a perfect showcase of that glow up. Yes, it might be lacking in the polish department but fortunately that does not degrade the quality of this outfit that much! I love how consistent the colors are and I love how they carry on into the wig itself. It’s yet another clever interpretation of stars! One critique though… those horrid shoes, burn them.

Via: She's definitely had a glow-up and I am living for this galactic hair and gown! However, I don't really get the plastic-looking star on her chest. I wouldn't go as far as to say it ruined the look, but it definitely gave it a little touch of Party City, no shade. The gloves seem to be two different colors, which works well enough for this specific look but I think they could've been longer, to add a little air of sophistication, if that makes sense. I'm also not in love with the heels.

HoWaffles: I think it’s a soft Toot.

Via: Yeah, a soft Toot.

Next up, Maria Netta!

María Netta BYFAS S01E01 Runway

HoWaffles: I have to say this is my favorite interpretation of the runway theme this episode. The fact that she took the political approach with “stars” is what I adore the most. However, this outfit is a designer’s worst nightmare. There are so many pieces combined together with no sense of consistency at all which makes me question her level of taste. That skirt coupled with what seems to be a school-girl shirt and a suit jacket that screams ‘political debate’... Yeah I don’t dig it much. Those baseball shoes and christmas stocking-socks don’t help either. I see what she was going for with the elephant head-piece, but it further proves my point… There is no consistency. Oh, there are also no stars.

Via: Whether you like it or not, this is contemporary avant-garde couture and I really like it... mostly. She could've forgone the elephant mascot head and instead just alluded to it with her hairstyle or something, and what are those shoes? They’re really tacky and cheapen the whole look. And, of course, it could've had some more stars, but this look is definitely striking, and I commend María for wanting to convey a message and doing the unexpected.

HoWaffles: It’s a Boot.

Via: I think it’s a Toot!

Next up, Natasha!

Natasha BYFAS S01E01 Runway

HoWaffles: I can describe this outfit with one word and it starts with a C and ends with “lever”. This is that type of fashion where the box is not just stepped-out-of but completely eviscerated! I can tell she did not feel the need to ‘jazz up’ the outfit because the concept alone can justify it coming out on a runway. I mean… it’s literally Patrick Star, it’s so crazy and kooky and that is the one thing I look forward to the most when I host these seasons. Additionally, it’s an iconic Patrick look and he was literally wearing ho*ker boots, what’s there not to love?!

Via: To be honest, it's very Halloween costume, but she gets away with it simply because of how unexpected it is, and the fact that it's a clever reference. There really isn't much else to say about it. It’s Natasha’s usual playful flavor of fashion and it continues to work out in her favor.

HoWaffles: I can confidently say, it’s a Toot!

Via: I give it a Toot.

Up next, OzQueen!

OzQueen BYFAS S01E01 Runway

HoWaffles: This was my favorite outfit this episode because it literally is star-studded! Where Gingica faltered with this silhouette and had the stars appearing at the skirt of the outfit, OzQueen made sure to keep the distribution of stars as consistent and as smooth as can be! I have zero complaints about this outfit. I love the colors, I love the wig, I love the props, I love the arm-pieces, and most of all I love the fabric she worked with! No complaints here.

Via: One word: perfection. OzQueen very rarely misses the mark and this time she delivered in full force. It fits the theme to a T - in fact, to me it's the quintessence of a star-themed gown. The two colors are beautiful and play perfectly together, and the star detailing is immaculate. The wig is very pageant and the color is stunning, and I don't usually like this type of extremely-golden blonde wig. The little star accessory she's holding is the cherry on top. My one critique is that I wish it had a necklace, that's it. It’s simply a pristine look!

HoWaffles: Without a doubt, it’s a Toot!

Via: Toot!

Up next, Queen Ari!

Queen Ari BYFAS S01E01 Runway

HoWaffles: Where Donut succeeded in attempting a basic silhouette and adding minute details to accentuate the look, Queen Ari did not. There are virtually no details to begin with, the color combination is horrid and the stars look like an afterthought. The wig is laid though, it’s just that nothing else is...

Via: It's just so... meh. The gold detailing is nice and ornate but the rest of the gown is so bland and the stars feel like a tacky after-thought. The hair doesn't really fit the outfit and I can't help but comment on the uneven silhouette. Girl...

HoWaffles: Boot.

Via: Boot.

Moving on to Queen of Memes!

Queen of Memes BYFAS S01E01 Runway

HoWaffles: Don’t get me wrong this gown is absolutely stunning, I just don’t feel like she went IN with the theme. The stars are there and I can see them… but that’s the thing, it took me a while to realize that the stars were actually there. The color combination doesn't really bring in much focus to the stars on the gown. One other thing, just like with Donut I feel like this gown’s train was not executed perfectly, it looks like a bunch of excess fabric. Beautiful gown, bad execution.

Via: This is a very plain Jane, Makayleigh-from-Tennessee look. Yes, it's pretty, but there's nothing else going for it. The glitter on the top fizzles out into these big tacky stars that end up making the gown look like someone's arts and crafts project, and you can't even tell they're supposed to be stars if you aren’t looking really close.

HoWaffles: I’m sorry, it’s a Boot.

Via: A Boot from me.

Lastly, Robin X!

Robin X BYFAS S01E01 Runway

HoWaffles: Just like with Hannah, I’m in awe of Robin’s development and her glow up ever since Season 3! I remember she gave us some fierce looks during her season and this one is no exception! Sure, I would’ve loved it more if it was more polished and the textures weren’t as low quality as they are, but the whole concept is brilliant and I absolutely love the red wig she wore! I just think she needs to up her polish a bit.

Via: I'm sorry but I really don't like this. I appreciate the draped fabric on the skirt but it simply eclipses the rest of the look to the point where it looks ridiculous. The hairstyle is very... misguided and I can't even tell what that neck piece is supposed to be. Nevertheless, it certainly doesn't match the rest of the look.

HoWaffles: It’s a… Toot!

Via: Sorry, it’s a boot.
