Wanderlust

Wanderlust is a character from Just Dance 2023 Edition, debuting in Can’t Stop the Feeling! and serving as one of the main protagonists of the "Enter the Danceverses" storyline. He is the prince of the Danceverses and travels around, recruiting dancers to defeat Night Swan.

Biography[]

A passionate deity and sorcerer with an affinity to dancing,^[2] Wanderlust is the young prince of the Danceverses, traveling around with his trusty aide Discoball. His open nature allows people to gather around with him in his fun adventures and dances, from the newcomer Sara to even the reclusive and initially avoidant Jack Rose. He is also the son of the Traveler and Si’Ha Nova, where he inherits the characteristics from both of his parents; specifically the ability of conjuring portals like his father and the skin colour from his mother.

He appears to Sara to enlist her help against the malicious forces led by Night Swan as he needs a human’s help, as well as gathering around the best dancers around the Danceverses. His reason of going around the Danceverses is going on an independent quest to prove his worth to his parents by stamping out the threat Night Swan imposes to the Danceverses, and in addition to make them proud of his achievements. Despite him being a deity and sorcerer, he is susceptible to be transformed into Night Swan’s minion, though this spell is reversible.

He is also dubbed as "The Chosen One",^[1] with the implications regarding the role being unknown except that he is not allowed to take off the crown on his head.

Trivia[]

On February 14, 2024, the French Ubisoft Instagram account posted a reel with a spoof of Tinder consisting of Ubisoft characters, where Wanderlust’s profile states he was 27 years old at the time. This makes Wanderlust the first coach in the history of Just Dance to have a canonical age, along with Sara (who is reported to be 20 years old in the same reel).^[3]
"Wanderlust" means a strong desire to travel.^[4]
Jerky Jessy (Wanderlust’s portrayer) is seen in the Ubisoft Forward segment for Just Dance 2023 Edition performing If You Wanna Party.^[5]
Wanderlust is featured on the website cover for the 2024 version of the Just Dance Now playlist "Dance Divine", even though the only map in the game where he appears as a playable coach is Can’t Stop the Feeling!, which was due for removal on April 9, 2024 (around two weeks before the release of the playlist).
- However, the playlist includes If You Wanna Party, which also features Wanderlust (albeit as a background dancer).
