"Wasabi" by Little Mix is featured on Just Dance 2024 Edition.
The song also has an Extreme Version.
Appearance of the Dancer[]
The routine is performed by two women[1] and a non-binary person[2] varying in appearance, each embodying the essence of the moon and the sun.
C1[]
C1 is Ayla, representing the moon. She is portrayed with light purple skin tone and a tilted crescent drawn on their forehead. She has long wavy purple hair. The hair is subtle and has short bangs framing her face. Ayla’s makeup features a wide purple eyeliner that accentuates her eyes, complemented by violet lipstick.
Ayla’s outfit consists of a dark long-sleeved one-shoulder bodysuit with a slim purple collar. The top of the bodysuit has a waxing crescent moon. Directly below it, a vertical line extends down to the bodysuit's waist. A second waxing crescent moon is printed in the center of the bodysuit, but is flipped in orientation, with the top part positioned behind the vertical line and the bottom part extending in front of it. At the waist, two horizontal lines intersect with the vertical one.
Completing her look, Ayla wears dark sneakers with a striking purple sole. Her accessories include white stud earrings, a pink fingerless mid-forearm glove, purple nail polish, and violet lipstick. At some parts of the routine, Ayla holds a purple and dark purple fan.
C2[]
C2 is Nao, a DJ[2] representing the sun. They are portrayed with plum-colored skin. Their hair is styled in a shaved blonde cut. Their makeup includes a light yellow graphic eyeliner around both of their eyes, complemented by yellow lipstick.
Nao’s outfit consists of an oversized white hoodie. The top part of the hoodie features a curvy V shape in light blue and a sun print. From the sun, two lines extend outward. Each line is divided into two segments resembling scales. One part of these scales is colored in a light pink shade, while the other part is colored in light yellow. One line extends towards the top left, while the other extends towards the top right.
Completing their look, Nao sports orange skinny pants and white sneakers with a light yellow sole. Their accessories include white stud earrings, yellow nail polish, and a pink fingerless mid-forearm glove. At some parts of the routine, Nao owns an off-white and golden fan.
C3[]
C3 is Arya.[3] She is the fusion of Ayla and Nao with mauve skin, golden eyeshadow, and blue lips. Her long hair is off-white with a sharp golden crown with an off-white crescent on the top. Her outfit consists of a navy blue crop top with off-white accents which features an off-white waxing crescent moon and a golden sun, she also wears a light golden yellow bodysuit with a slim golden collar and a line. She also wears a pair of navy blue sneakers with golden accents.
Background[]
The routine takes place in two distinct locations for each coach.
Ayla stands on a rock ledge in the middle of an ocean. The tide crashes against the rock constantly.
Nao is in a pastel orange rocky land. There are cracks on the ground, smoke, and fire which shoots up on beat with the song.
Behind each one’s land, their opposite planet can be seen behind it coming closer.
In the outro, both lands are fused from their respective planets along with the coaches.
Gold Moves[]
There are 2 Gold Moves in this routine:
Gold Move 1: Slowly open your arms while bending your knees.
Gold Move 2: Slowly swing your right arm to the right.
Trivia[]
General[]
- Wasabi is the second song by Little Mix in the series.
- "Hell" and "s**t" are censored.
- Wasabi is the ninth song in the series to have not been released as a single, after 4x4, Till I Find You, Kiss Kiss, No Control, John Wayne, Fight Club, Stop Movin', and I Am My Own Muse.
Routine[]
- The routine was created by French artist Mylène Cagnoli and production studio Eddy, who has also worked on Rapper’s Delight and on advertisements for Just Dance 2023 Edition. This makes Rapper’s Delight and Wasabi the first two Just Dance maps to be produced by Eddy.
- The routine also had contributions form Brunch Studio Animation.[2]
- Being referred to as non-binary by Mylène Cagnoli and London-based production studio Spindle, Nao is the second coach in the Just Dance series to be characterized as such, after Mihaly.
- The coaches’ names have the following meanings:
- According to an Instagram post from Spindle, the routine is inspired by retro wave and fashion.[7]
- The post also refers to the map as "Planète Love", as if it was a short film.
- According to a post by Mylène Cagnoli showing Nao’s character design, Nao has lots of dance energy, but is also very shy and sensitive.[2]
- The fact that Nao is a DJ may be a nod to Cagnoli herself, who also works as a DJ under the name Belladone.[8][9]
